Funny the things you remember from childhood... Like the EXACT line in the rear seat upholstery that separated your side from your sister's with an eight inch "no man's land" that was disputed territory. The skirmishing inevitably made Dad threaten to turn the car around by Tucumcari...
Or the fact that if you stared at the Valiant headliner long enough without blinking, the pattern of perforations would start to "float" off of the material.
I first learned to work on cars by "helping" my Dad work on the Valiant. I remember dropping a corner of paper towel into the valve cover accidentally one time while changing the oil. I don't think I ever told Dad, but I was worried sick that it would ruin the engine. Last time we saw the Valiant, I think it had 225,000 miles on the original engine. I guess it survived my faux pas...
I learned mechanics from helping with the Valiant. I learned profanity by helping with the Volvo... I learned about love from working on Betsy, our beloved '50 Ford.
Finally a picture of Plymmie. Believe it or not, this is the very first car show where I opened the hood, since I finally have the cracks in the head taken care of, and it looks nice...

Okay, HarleyWidow, hope this keeps you entertained for a while.
I saw OUR Valiant outside a Pep Boys about 10 years ago. Still had the Yamaha Music School sticker on the left rear window.
