The need... for speed.

Finally screwed up the courage to run the 38U up the freeway a short distance. I took the GPS so I would know how fast I was really going. It's loafing at 60 mph, I would do that all day. Even 65 feels pretty leisurely. I ran it up to 70 just to see what it felt like. It feels a little fast to me, so I would do it for short spurts, but probably not cruise there.

Good news is no rods coming out the side of the case, and no overheating, as far as I can tell. I am happy with the speed capability of the 74" flattie. I still think it's important to get the ride control on the front fork before too many high speed adventures. When I hit a bump at 65, it takes two or three cycles for the bump to damp out. I have heard stories from old guys about springers oscillating at high speed, so better safe than sorry.

Still oiling the primary too much. Gotta take out more shims... Fun ride though.
