Generator lens, Christmas Plate, and a score...

When I bought the skull face dash cover up at Monroe, it had two red lenses. The generator idiot light is supposed to have a green lens... I figured it would be no big deal to make a green one, and the price was good.

I was out with Lynn today and decided to see if I could scrounge some appropriate material to make the green lens. After almost giving up, we stopped at Goodwill. I found this Christmas plate that seemed to fit the bill...

Worked like a charm. A quick trip to the bandsaw and a little grinding with the Dremel, and presto! Green lens. Plenty of plate left over for spares...

The coolest thing is at Goodwill, I found an Avirex retro 1950's motorcycle jacket in size XL. Avirex was really famous in the 1990's for making very high end WWII flying jacket replicas (before they switched to hip hop attire). Try to ignore the old fat guy modeling it...

Soft and supple. Even has vintage looking emerald green quilted nylon/acetate lining. The jacket cost me $12.99. All in all, a good day.

  1. Great post! I love this kind of stuff.

I was talking to Steve today about some of the stuff on his Knuck that's repop. I think it would have made you feel better about some of the repop stuff you are running.

    Cool jacket, I'm jealous.
